1 - Happy New Year 2020
This is a time where people make all kinds of resolutions which they many keep or in most cases in a very short time they have reverted to their old ways.
What are you going to do this year that will help you keep your resolutions this year?
From a computer’s point of view, it would be nice to have a backup of your files. The latest photos from your Christmas and New Year’s party would be nice to keep in the event of a hard drive crash. Hard drives, optical drives, fans, keyboards and mice all have moving parts so eventually they will fail. It is not a major problem if you have to get a new mouse but if the fan on your CPU freezes and your CPU fries then that is a lot more of a problem especially if it is a few years old as the parts are not available and an upgrade is required. Yes, replacement hard drives are available and you would most likely install a bigger capacity drive, but how do you get your data back? This is where having a backup of your data can save the day and get you documents, photos, music etc you can get back your daughter’s first words or that funny photo of Uncle Lachlan.
So that this year your resolution is to back up your data frequently be it is to an external hard drive or to a cloud provider and make sure that it is happening by checking the backups.
